Months ago I wrote in this very blog that I was going to test a “pretty” ebook cover vs. a “plain” one. The product I was going to use for the test was undergoing a major version upgrade, and I decided I didn’t want to invest my time in a product that was soon to be completely revamped.
But I did find another tool to run my A/B (split run) test. It has a pretty goofy name: Scientific Web Marketing System, but I’m thrilled with the flexibility of the product itself. To use it, you must know how to upload Perl scripts, set UNIX file permissions, and be comfortable editing a script to insert your file path names. Pretty standard stuff for webmasters.
I just finished a test of the header graphic on my “How to Add Games to Your Site” landing page.

My money is on the page without the header graphic.
let me know which one worked for you. i do allot of split testing and about 95% of pages without header graphics always wins for me. so that tells me that the message is more important than the flashy pics (or maybe im a bad graphic designer 🙂 )
anyways i’d be keen to hear your results, drop me an email or post here
