One of the main attractions of the Jungle Villa in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica was the open layout of the living areas, with no walls between us and the jungle and the visiting monkeys. During our week, we had two gangs of capuchins come to visit. I was only home for one of the visits. They were extremely playful and fun to watch. No, they did not get near any of us. But yes, they did poop on the ceramic floor in our villa.
We also saw sloths hanging out in the trees nearly every day. And a few nights out of the week we were treated to howler monkeys in the neighborhood. They sounded like mean, angry dogs. The meanest, angriest dogs you can imagine hearing. Apparently, according to Marta, our Villa housekeeper, they have “huevos blancos” but I was never close enough to them to verify this trivia tidbit.
