I take it as a great compliment that my grown son calls and asks for recipes from his childhood. This week, he made his first turkey dinner, a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving, because he will be coming to my house for Thanksgiving (yea!!) I got the call when he was at the grocery store, he wanted my recipe for Cranberry Raspberry sauce. So, I told him the ingredients (so he could buy them while he was at the store) and added that I would email him the actual recipe.
Fast forward two days later, I realized I had forgotten to send the recipe! Yikes! I emailed him and asked how his dinner went (they were hosting 14 people!). He said everything turned out great. I apologized for not sending the recipe. He said, “That’s okay. I just googled it, and your recipe was the third result!”
Okay, this may only be funny to those of you in the Internet business, but “ranking” on the first page of Google for a search term is usually something deliberate and planned, not serendipitous and unconscious. I had completely forgotten that a couple of years ago I had posted my (much coveted) recipe on this very blog.
I thought this was completely hilarious, and seeing as I was out with Mom at the time when the email came in from my son, I tried to explain to her why I was laughing.
I put this way, “Mom, Google thinks my recipe for cranberry sauce with raspberries is the third most important cranberry-raspberry sauce recipe in the whole world!” She was so proud, tears started to well in her eyes.
Anyone else want to taste some of my “Google approved” cranberry raspberry sauce? You’ll find the recipe here.
