Most email newsletter publishers probably agree with me: email away messages (aka email vacation messages) are evil. We hate them because every time we publish a newsletter, our inboxes are deluged with them. And have you ever been on an email discussion list when one (or half a dozen!) members keep sending their away messages to the list? The list itself becomes useless.
Anyway … Gmail recently announced a sophisticated canned message that can be used in conjunction with filters. Okay .. maybe this is a step in the right direction. But again, the tool is only as clever as the person setting up the filters. So, for some this might work, but for most people … NOT!
But here’s the real reason for this post: a very funny road sign in Wales, where instructions are posted in two languages, was written up in BBC News.
The English part says “No entry for heavy goods vehicles. Residential site only.” The Welsh part says (translated) “I am not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated.”
