Thursday’s surgery was successful, and my recovery is progressing nicely. I returned home Sunday, the fourth of July, my personal independence day. I believe I owe my amazing recovery to the support of my loved ones (the best friends and family a girl could ask for) and a guided imagery audio course titled “Successful Surgery” by Belleruth Naparstek.
I listened to the guided imagery audio several times before my surgery, and it helped me focus on a positive result, and the support of everyone who wished me well.
I don’t think I can possibly describe it very well, but Ms. Naparstek says that double-blind studies have shown guided imagery to have a positive impact on surgery results. I consider myself proof-positive that it helps.
But life is full of surprises, not all of them good. Next week I’ll fill you in on … the rest of the story.

Ms. Barbara, I am so glad you are doing better. I too have had a hysterectomy. Again, as you will find out, it is the best thing you could have done for yourself. I am glad you have a good support system. I am sure you have received numerous emails telling you what you already know ….time will heal the pain. Best wishes as you recover. Liz

Barbara, as a teacher, I have enjoyed your website for years. However, since being away from school for summer vacation, I didn’t realize you were having surgery. I am happy to hear that you are home and doing well. I too had a hysterectomy and must admit that it was the best thing that has happened to me in years. I feel great and I feel sure that you will feel the same soon. Best wishes and welcome back online. Penny
